If your child is planning a future trip to Adventures — Wild Ridge or is here right now, we want you to have the information you need to rest easy while he or she is away. There are many activities at camp in which your child may be participating. Whether they are challenged while rock climbing, kayaking or simply spending time with friends, their safety is our top concern.
What to Bring:
Adventures — Wild Ridge will provide a pillow, mattress, first aid kit, eating utensils, and any adventure specific gear you may need. Fireworks, guns, knives, and other weapons are prohibited.
Clothing
- 4 pairs of shorts or more
- 6 short sleeve shirts or more
- 1 pair of pants
- 5 pairs underwear or more
- 5 pairs of socks or more: we recommend wool or synthetic socks instead of cotton.
- Rain jacket: we recommend a jacket made from coated nylon or Gore-Tex
- Swimsuit(s)
- Jacket or sweatshirt: we recommend at least one warm layer for cool nights
- Hat(s)
- Sunglasses
Footwear
- Hiking Boots: we recommend a sturdy hiking boot with ankle support for hiking. Running shoes are sufficient.
- Sandals: we recommend Chacos & Tevas for rafting and kayaking (a 2nd pair of running shoes or crocs are acceptable)
- A comfortable shoe to wear around camp when others may be wet from water days
Toiletries
- Sunscreen, insect repellant, and lip balm
- Tooth brush and tooth paste
- Feminine products if applicable
- Personal medication (note: all prescription medication must be in the original pharmacy bottle and have the pharmacy label. Do not send medications in any other container or bag.)
Equipment
- Sleeping Bag: we recommend synthetic filled bags with a 30 to 50 degree Fahrenheit range
- Bible, pen, & journal
- Headlamp or small flashlight (Very important for nights around camp)
- Small backpack
- 2 towels: we recommend one for bathing and one for the water days.
- 2 water bottles: we recommend a durable (plastic or metal) water bottle that holds 32 ounces or more.
- Insulated coffee cup or travel mug (if you’re a coffee person)
Safety
Your camper's safety is our main priority. Young Life and Adventures — Wild Ridge maintain the highest level of safety and standards in operation of all of our activities at camp.
Each trip will be facilitated by an experienced and carefully trained guide. Your child will be in good hands the entire time at Adventures — Wild Ridge. In the event of an unexpected accident, our staff are trained in First Aid and will have access to contact emergency care should an issue arise. Each guide will carry a cell or satellite phone and will communicate with basecamp regularly. Our staff will be present with your group from the minute they arrive at camp until the morning they drive away to head back home.
Accessibility
We welcome kids of all abilities to our camps. The Adventures — Wild Ridge experience has been designed with teenagers in mind. It is challenging, but very achievable. If your child has any special conditions, please be sure to note all of that information on the Young Life Health Form.
